4th and 5th Grade Flag Football League (Fall 2026)
The focus of this league is to be a competitive football option that is not tackle.
Flag football is a great option for athletes interested in football because it allows them to continue to grow in the understanding of the game without the contact. At this age this removes concern for player and parents while allowing the athlete to develop in the skills needed to be successful in football later on. Flag football teaches tacklers to focus on the hips of runners which is great in transition to tackle football. As a runner it also allows you the challenge of keeping tacklers from your flag which develops your skill as a ball carrier. Finally offensive and defensive linemen learn how to use their hands rather than relying on their pads. These are all skills that are foundational to success in tackle football.
This will be 7 on 7 format. Team will have 3 linemen, a quarterback, and 3 skill players for every offensive snap.
Basic Info: Practices will be played at Mountain View Learning Center (5780 Hendrickson Ave, Ferndale, WA). Games will be Saturdays and can be played throughout Whatcom County, a schedule will be given the first week of practices. An informational email will get sent out the Friday prior to the league starting. Dates/Days: September 8 - October 24, practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 to 6:30pm (times may be adjusted for daylight).
Equipment Needed: Cleats and mouthguard
